Awful Tattoos.

These are two of the worst tattoos I have ever seen, and they are both on the same person: White-supremacist MMA fighter Melvin Costa. [Amazingly there exists no Wikipedia page for this guy, so I just stuck in a link to a random blog post about his tattoos.]

"The Jews and Their Lies."

Holy shit. I had no idea Michael Steele and the RNC could be so stupid as to create The Obama Card, a game that allows players to use their Obama credit card to purchase "Anti-semitic, anti-Latino, and overtly pornographic literature - with pictures to boot" (AMERICAblog). Apparently this material helps the public understand just how Obama's spending is destroying our country.

Using a search engine modeled after Amazon's, 'players' search for keywords relating to items they wish to purchase. A search for Jews brings up a set of thumbnail images including, you guessed it, "The Jews and Their Lies." One can also, with proper searching (as done by AMERICAblog), find items like "Sex Secrets of Escorts" and "Porn: Have Anal Sex and Call Her Best Friend for a Threesome". Seriously.

Also hilarious is the fact that certain words are banned: one must use homosexual instead of gay, and the word vagina is banned.

Check out the AMERICAblog post to see screenshots of some of the searches (for some reason Blogger won't let me upload these images).

Backwards discrimination.

So it turns out that wildly ignorant racism by whites can be directed at whites, and not even in that neo-Nazis-hate-non-racist-whites kind of way. Born and raised in Mozambique, Paulo Serodio, a white man from Africa (also known as a white African-American), was recently suspended from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for TWO YEARS after insisting upon calling himself African-American during a "[...] cultural exercise in a clinical skills course" (whatever the hell that is).

Well, let's keep the spirit going: America, fuck yeah!!!

WTF St Louis?

I know, I know, I have been absent from the blog. And here I am, coming back just to put down St. Louis.

But I thought this story must be shared.

How not to bring back the Republican Party

I really wanted a different headline, but it wouldn't fit.

So Chip Saltsman recently distributed a CD to other Republicans with a song parody that is pretty hard not to describe as "racist."  Now look - this is clearly stupid and idiotic, but you never know.  Maybe it was just a joke.  Maybe Chip's new to politics, or doesn't really get involved in the political side of things that often.

In fact, as you probably know, this isn't the case at all.  Saltsman is a candidate to become chairman of the RNC - essentially, a position where one's knowledge of how to handle political situtations is all that matters.  More amazing, though, is the fact that this issue has become something on which (some) Republicans are actually rallying around him!

I don't understand!  Your party just got demolished in an election, and your response is gonna be, "Yeah, I know he didn't realize that race is a sensitive issue in this country, but I still think he's got enough of a pulse on the people to be our party's chief political strategist."  Seriously?!

I don't care what your party stands for or what you think the country stands for - if you don't try to claim the center/moderate ground you're merely endangering yourself as a party.

Notes on Congress

CQ politics has a really cool tool that for each Congressman shows the proportion of the time they (1) voted with the president, (2) voted with their party, (3) voted at all.

No senator voted with the president less often than Ted Kennedy. Interestingly, no senator voted with the president more often than John McCain. The two senators from Maine, both Republicans, were the least loyal senators to their party.

Of those not campaigning (or cancerous), Senate artifacts Robert Byrd and Daniel Inouye (71 combined years in the Senate) missed the most votes.

********************************

In other news, it's already been a big deal that Vietnamese Republican Anh "Joseph" Cao brought down uber-corrupt William Jefferson (try as you want, you can't add "Clinton", nor can you make a "movin' on down" joke) in Louisiana. Well, as if that wasn't enough, when a reporter asked, Cao (Anh?) said he would be interested in being a member of the Congressional Black Caucus (One Two Three). Just for reference, though others have tried, there has never been a non-black member of the CBC. There have been two black Republicans in congressional history, one was a member of the caucus (and generated frequent controversy) and the other declined to join.

And if that's still not enough for you, just enjoy what my current Congressman is bringing to race relations.

Congratulations, America

Anger

So I turned on talk radio on my five minute drive to work this morning. I put on FOX News, because I wanted to see what a day like this is like on the right.

They had a Democrat caller (who was black), and they went back and forth (I should mention that the show on at this time is definitely conservative, but not extreme. I disagree with the guys strongly, but they're not the Hannity/Limbaugh types) and she was saying that she was actually more excited about Palin losing than Obama winning (though still really excited about that). When asked why, she said that Palin had brought about so much division and anger and hatred in the country, and that she wouldn't condemn the racist things shouted during her rallies. The response?

"An African-American was just elected president and you think you still have the right to bitch about racism?"

I hope this isn't a preview of the next four eight years.
