Quick Heads Up
Maybe you saw it maybe you didn't. I don't know how much of an effect this will have, but the new EU president is Czech, and when it comes to global warming, he and Sarah Palin have a lot in common.
The impression I get is that the Czechs like him as a domestic politician because he tends toward their more conservative (i.e. afraid of change) beliefs that they are not so keen on broadcasting to the rest of the continent, let alone the world. Basically I am imagining the Czech Republic as a country in a wrenching transition, a country that has to put on sophisticated airs to fit in with the social club the is the EU while at the same time creating domestic buy-in to modern ideas at a rather slow, plodding pace to avoid the alienation of the majority of the population.
Oh, Czechs. Their government will probably collapse again in a couple months anyway. Am I right, Carly and Bart?
ReplyDeletePerhaps, given the international disapproval of the man in charge. Bart and I were somewhat saddened by his terrible reputation.

ReplyDeleteexcellent analysis, though.
