Am I a bad person?

There's some sort of web award for the best political coverage. Internet users can vote. So I went over there (directed from 538) and, even though I had heard of fewer than half of them, and thus had no basis on which to vote, voted for 538, the best one I had actually read. Of course, I don't care as much as the title of this post suggests, but is such a decision morally acceptable?

  1. You should only consider yourself to be a bad person if you also consider those who vote in public elections without knowing much about any of the candidates to be bad people. It is a matter of whether or not you think that to be of value a vote must be fully informed. I am not sure where I fall on this question, and am going to end with that so I can have some time to think this through more clearly.

  2. Ha! I wish thinking about that while I wrote it, and about how I didn't vote for any of the judges on the ballot, nor did I vote for one ballot measure whose language was so confusing that I couldn't determine its implications.

All of my coworkers, it seemed, used the "throw the bum out" philosophy on voting for judges.
