    anyone think this is a bad move? (I don't, just curious - maybe there was a better choice who got passed over?)

    Well, it's hard to say. Of course, I don't know anything about this sort of thing, but the politics of it are that Obama gets to look bipartisan, and the plan as far as I know is to only keep him for a few months, possibly a year.
