I enjoyed reading
this article. I followed a similar progression to using many of Google's features. And as for a large corporation kind of controlling my life, I believe Carr said it rather well: "If Google owns me, it’s probably because I am in favor of what works"
hahaha look what I JUST posted
ReplyDeletehahaha that's pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteit was a good article though!
as for privacy vs. utility, what a tough line to draw. when am I going to be offended by actions of google? On a lesser scale, remember how upset we would get when facebook gradually became more intrusive?
another interesting tech thing I saw today: on the NYT page was a box sponsored by LinkedIn. It said "Headlines for Healthcare Professionals, and via the "what's this?" link I learned that the "Headlines displayed here are customized for based on your LinkedIn profile."
I thought this was pretty cool, but I hesitated before concluding that I enjoyed because wow..NYT and LinkedIn can be connected like this? There are disclaimers about privacy and the option to opt-out.
