Somebody help me out

If a president dies and the vice president moves up to the presidency, what are the rules (if any) governing the former VP's new VP pick? That is, what do we or can we know about who Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would choose in the "what-if" scenario?

    I can't answer the original question, but while seeking the answer I found a fascinating Wikipedia page that is (very) loosely related to the question.
