Discussion Topic: Senate

The Democrats have an outside shot at a filibuster-proof 60 senators. Let's assume Barack Obama wins the election. Is having one party, even if it is your party, with full control of both houses of Congress and the Presidency a good idea?

  1. just a quick response:

normally I would object to one party having control of both. however, given the events of the past 8 years, even though the Senate has swung, I think I personally would not have a problem with democrats taking both for a session or two. We need some major work done, so why not let the democrats just do it with even one less step of politicking...

I certainly would like the Senate to revisit some of Bush's executive vetoes...
