Katie's lame inauguration liveblog

I'm alone in my apartment, so I just really wanted to share my thoughts as I watch, like...

*when Bush entered, the crowd started booing and singing "nah nah nah, hey hey hey, good bye" (i don't know what that song is actually called) and the band furiously and unsuccessfully tried to drown them out. pretty funny.

*aretha franklin's hat is amazing (photo tk)

*watching msnbc is not worth it, because as much as i like to hear rachel maddow's take, she's totally overpowered by chris matthews saying things like, "msnbc is the network of the future."

*how many people do you think are on the mall? pretty amazing

that's all for now...

UPDATE:

*Barack Obama is President!

*Great speech, I thought. Hopefully makes up for the fact that he kind of flubbed the oath of office.

*Bush 41's outfit is pretty outrageous (giant fur hat, bright purple scarf). I guess he's showing his true colors as a fashion maven in his old age?

  1. It was really lame here. I think everyone was watching it on their computers in my office, so the bandwidth was dead, and we couldn't get TV reception either.

We ended up watching MSNBC's stream (about one frame per four seconds) muted with a radio tuned in to NPR.

  2. Yeah, I was really having trouble understanding that hat.

It's like "Dude? As Vice President you fought the Ruskies and now you're dressing like one?"
