Wow. That was very strange. I had only read a transcript before, but seeing the looks on their faces as that exchange happened was fantastic.
My first thought as I watched that, though, was, "Why in the hell is Chris watching any of this? I can't handle any television pundits (granted, Armey used to be important in actual politics)."
I got a new external hard drive but my laptop is dead and my desktop sucks. So copying all of my old CDs to the external has to be done on the desktop, which doesn't have the power to transfer the data and entertain me, and the only other background entertainment option in my room is the TV. So it's Hardball or Days of our Lives.
Ok, you're right. I probably made the wrong choice.
That is a much more reasonable explanation than I expected. I assumed that you would go with the, "It's the only thing on," defense, in which case I would have been forced to make the absurd, yet surprisingly defensible, argument that SNL may be as important to the political outcome of the country as Hardball aspires to be.
God, wow (nothing to do with your computer woes, Chris, I'm reacting to the video itself). The punditry is obviously what keeps me from watching most political news shows, but Armey just reminded me of the second reason - naive though it may be, I still like to pretend that we try to elect our best people to represent us and that members of Congress are deserving of respect. It's really scary when they prove otherwise, which they do constantly on Hardball etc.
