Very Interesting Article

I received this article in a listserv email from my department - the 2 doctors involved were residents in the department for which I work.

I realize some may find it depressing or hard to read/swallow, but it is worth reading all the way through, even just to understand the US' stance on torture under the Bush administration.

  1. this is really a fascinating article. I was particularly struck by the section describing the perception of pain and the related quote that said, "People are harmed because of the meaning torture has to them. Because they had to betray loved ones, friends, colleagues in order to survive. Because it’s degrading."

  2. wow...I can't believe the physicians do this "in their off hours"... it's amazing to me that a doctor can look at the human body and have it "tell them a story" about that person...just wow. they're obviously much better people than i'll ever be, i could never handle that kind of work.
