With the inept John McCain having won the Republican nomination, then Huckabee charismatically appearing on the Colbert Report, and even with his own show, it becomes easy to sort of like former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee.
But let's not forget he's nuts. He suggested of the Bible and the Constitution that we use the perfect text to fix the imperfect one. I could go on, but he was on the View and, well, I'll leave it to you.

An new editor here (I work at a non-fiction book publishing company) just finished doing Huckabee's memoir at his last job. He describes Huckabee as "creepily genial." He said that when you talk to him "you sort of get lost in his eyes, and you have so much fun that you forget he's crazy." Creepy, indeed.
ReplyDeleteWow, that articulates what I was trying to say so much better!
ReplyDeleteThat is truly amazing insight into one of the most deceptively crazy people anywhere near the head of this country. Imagine the 2012 team of Palin and Huckabee, with either name leading the ticket. If nothing else that would be one of the friendliest-seeming pairs in history.
ReplyDeleteYeah, to a point. Palin's got folksiness down, but she does not have friendliness down. She's got to do something to change her image from the girl who (1) didn't stop talking about Obama's "associations" and (2) didn't stop complaining about how the McCain people treated her.
ReplyDeleteShe may come off well as an "everyday" American, but she's got a lot of work to do before that image is one of a positive everyday American again.
Well said.
ReplyDeleteComplimenting Palin and naming his new book after a Spike Lee movie (excuse me, joint). Seems like Huckabee and Palin are destined to ruin or greatly expand one-another's (can we get a grammar check on "one-another's" and "each others'" please? I have no idea what is correct.) chances in 2012.
ReplyDelete"one-another's" sounds right to me, but I have evidence to back this up.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee/Palin 2012 could probably only be beaten out by a ticket who's popular and likable from the opposite end of the political spectrum: Stewart/Colbert 2012.
That would be the faceoff of the century.
